Urent is New Zealand's first peer to peer online rental community. You can join for free and list as many rental as you have. Urent doesn't take any percentage of your successful rentals.

Does Urent cost anything to join?

No, joining Urent is Free! rent out as much as you like for free. If you wish to List a item you will have to click here, Urent doesn't take any percentages of your rental earnings.

Renters

How do i rent something?

Join or Sign in. Search and find a rental that you wish to rent. Then click "message user" and send the member a text, phone call or email and request to book the rental for the dates and times you wish.Then arrange place, time and payment to meet up. Then pay the full amount for the period. Then contact the owner about returning the item.

Pick up?

Arrange a time, place and payment when picking up a item. The payment must be the full amount for the rental period. Take photos of the state of the rental if any previous damage and notify the owner. Then arrange the drop of time and place.

Does Urent offer Insurance?

Currently Urent does not offer any options for insurance. However we are currently work with insurance companies to arrange options for Urent members. Until we get insurance suggest you take photos of the rental before you rent it and work out a rental agreement with the owner. Generally if you brake it you pay for it.

What if i break the item?

Firstly take a photo of the extent of damage to the item. Then contact the owner and discuss weather they would like you repair or replace the item. Generally if you break it, you pay for it. However if the item breaks from poor maintenance the renter shouldn’t have to fix or replace it, as that is the owners fault.

What if the item breaks down?

A very uncommon situation but If the breaks down whilst you are using it, Contact the owner, it may have happened before and it could be a easy fix. If not, you should receive all your money back.

Dropping off the item?

Drop off is generally in the same location from where you picked up the item. Contact the owner if you have any issues or are running late. Simply give the item back, review the experience and rent again.

Does Urent offer Insurance?

What if the item is stolen or never returned?

To prevent this, take a photo of the renters ID, drivers license etc. If your item is stolen or not returned, firstly contact the police and issue a police report. Then contact Urent and we will supply contact details and block the users account. If the item can not be found we will bill the user the estimated value of the item.

How can i check the identity of member?

If you receive a rental request from a user, you can take a photo of their ID and get their account number. Its in the top right corner of every members account. You can search the number to find the identity of the user.

Pick up?

If you receive a rental request from a member arrange a location for them to pick up the item, often where the item is located at. Receive payment and notify the user where to drop off the item.

What if my item breaks down when a member is renting it?

If your Item breaks down fix the item and give the renter a refund or another rental. Best to keep your rental equipment in good working condition. As situations like this will lead to bad reviews.
